Fintech Payment & Risk Management Platform

About the Project

Fintech platform for payment processing, orchestration, merchant operations, and transaction risk management. The system handled SEPA Direct Debit payment flows, webhook processing, chargeback reconciliation, merchant routing, IBAN verification, and automated risk controls. The platform was designed around domain-driven architecture with multiple bounded contexts and asynchronous processing for high-volume financial operations. It included automated retry and idempotency mechanisms, background processing, dead-letter handling, bank-level analytics, and monitoring of payment and chargeback activity. I also worked on a Python/FastAPI risk analytics service that analyzed transaction and banking data to identify higher-risk activity and support automated operational decisions.

Responsibilities

Led backend architecture and development across multiple fintech services using Laravel, PostgreSQL, Redis, Python/FastAPI, Docker, and Horizon. Designed payment orchestration for SEPA Direct Debit flows, including idempotent transaction processing, Redis locking, retry strategies, webhook verification, chargeback reconciliation, and automated handling of payment failure codes. Designed the platform around five domain-driven bounded contexts and asynchronous processing with queues and dead-letter handling. Built multi-MID routing and verification workflows with resilient retry and idempotency mechanisms. Developed risk analytics capabilities including BIC-level chargeback analysis, IBAN verification, bank-level name matching, VOP enrichment, and risk scoring. Contributed to technical planning, architecture decisions, code reviews, performance improvements, production troubleshooting, and mentored 3–5 engineers.
