How can we choose between different AI vendors and models for our product?

Start with the use cases, not the models. Define which problems you want AI to solve, what latency and quality you need, and how often calls will be made. Then compare vendors on capability, pricing, reliability, and legal terms around data use and privacy. Consider whether you need advanced features like fine tuning, streaming responses, or on premise options. Build small, realistic prototypes with two or three options and compare them on real tasks from your product. A slightly less accurate model that is cheaper, faster, and easier to integrate can be a better business choice than the latest benchmark winner.
