What is the difference between Software Architecture and Software Design?

Answer:

Software architecture defines the high-level structure of a system: its major components, how they interact, and decisions that are costly to reverse, such as service boundaries, data storage choices, or communication protocols. Software design works inside that structure, specifying how each component behaves internally, including its classes, methods, and data flow. Software engineer Grady Booch summarized the relationship in 2006: all architecture is design, but not all design is architecture.
