When does Delphi still make sense?
Delphi is the right call when an existing VCL application already does its job and rewriting it would cost more than it saves. Embarcadero still ships yearly Delphi releases, so teams that already know the codebase can extend it instead of replacing it. When is C# the better choice?
C# is the better starting point for anything built from scratch today. Microsoft ships WPF and WinForms with every .NET release, and WinUI 3, now at version 1.8, targets native Windows 11 UI directly. .NET MAUI extends the same C# codebase to macOS, iOS, and Android when a project needs more than Windows. TIOBE ranked C# fifth worldwide in July 2026 and named it language of the year for 2025, and that ranking tracks a larger pool of developers actively working in the language.
